BeautyBlog76-Online Sales!

Hi my lovelies!

I was just sent this link to amazing online beauty sales by my wonderful friend Julie;)

Go get them before it's too late!

Sirene's guide to beauty steals;)

The website is in Danish - however, the sales are from asos.com, where all my readers can go for amazing beauty steals!

Personally, I would check out the sale in Soap & Glory

Elemis Skin Care - which I'm really tempted to try since hearing Michele1218 rave about it

Illamasqua products - they get a lot of rave but I've never tried any of them but the Illamasqua ASOS Exclusive Smoky Eye Kit looks good!

So what do you say?

SHOP AWAY!

BeautyBlog74-My perfect imperfections

Hi lovelies,

This tag has been going around for a while. I like it because besides looking at the imperfections we all feel we have (something that most people don't actually notice/care about) it also celebrates the ability to say nice things about yourself.

Therefore, this blog post is actually a bit more about me and a bit less about make up!

In my teens and early twenties, I struggled immensely with self-confidence issues - mainly about my body - but in the recent years, I've been inspired by so many strong and confident women, and have matured enough to say to myself: relax a little more, don't stress about the things you think other people see (because most times they really don't), and to just be more happy and more me! I do feel better about myself and I think that confidence has made me a more happy and relaxed person to be around!

SO first the three imperfections:

1) I seriously wish I had a nicer nose! Not the shape as much as the large pores and the fact that it gets soooo shiny/oily all the time! Luckily, I've learned make up tricks to minimize the shine and pores but still it bothers me a lot more than it should!
I always envy women with flawless skin and non-shiny t-zones;)

2) I hate the fact that my skin scars so easily and that the scars are so dark and hard to get rid of. No matter how small a wound, I have a scar for the next month (on my face) and even longer on my legs or arms. No remedy has been able to cure me of that! Maybe it has to do with my skin-tone or my skin in general, I don't know but I've thought of going to a dermatologist for advice.

3) I don't like to wear sleeveless tops or tank tops because I feel like my arm pits - or rather the skin on the front of my armpit towards my torso is way too bulky and fat (I know we are really getting into the small obsessive things now;)

Therefore on to the good and great things about myself!

1) I like my hair - most of the time - I never cared that much about it (having it cut or using the right shampoo) but I was always okay with how it looked - and since it's sooooo straight and without volume I kind of had to get used to it;) BUT there's nothing like newly washed hair that dries into soft layers;)

2) A strange thing: I like my cheekbones - the ones I never knew I had but discovered through make up and I really do believe they have become more define in the last few years- maybe my (teenage)face finally settled into its lines;) I like how they define my face more than before where I always felt my face was too round and too undefined.

3) I like my hands. They are pretty small - most people comment on how small my fingers are - but I never think about that. I like the actual hand-part of my hand. Is that weird? Possibly;) But I guess I like my entire hand the best, when I have my nails done. For some reason I pretty much have baby-soft skin on my hands.

So what are your perfect imperfections?

Please let me know in the comment box below!

BeautyBlog68-This or That Tag

Hi my lovelies,

I have missed you and I know, I've been letting you all down lately. My apologies! I've been working hard to finish my thesis - almost there - so thought I'd do this fun tag I saw online today.

You can see Elle - allthatglitters21 - who did this tag on YouTube right here.

Mine is coming up right here - and please feel free to leave a comment and let me know you This or That!

makeup:
blush or bronzer - hard one since I often use my bronzer as a dupe for blush but at the moment I'd have to say blush - been in love with NYX's blush in Raisin and it's so dark/plummy I use it for cheeks/slight sculpting contour for fall - love it!

lip gloss or lipstick - been in love with my Revlon Super Lustrous - Creme Lipstick in Just Enough Buff 613. So I'd have to say lipstick for this tag!

eye liner or mascara - ALWAYS mascara...can't survive without my CoverGirl Lash Blast!

foundation or concealer - Foundation - since it can double as concealer and I need the coverage!

neutral or color eye shadow - looooooove neutrals!

pressed or loose eye shadows - pressed! I don't have the patience for loose shadows.

brushes or sponges - Brushes! The right brushes gives an amazing finish and an allover better result!

nails:
OPI or china glaze - OPI is my new love!
Long or short - Short! and well groomed!
Acrylic or natural - Natural - but thought of trying gel-nails - don't like acrylic anymore -tried it and it ruined my nails!
Brights or darks - SO I always use french manicure colors..always neutral nails..think it just looks more well-groomed.
Flower or no flower - NO flower... again going for the well-groomed and polished look.

body:
perfume or body splash - Perfume but been in love w my MiniMe Korean body spray in Ms.Twinkle!
lotion or body butter - Love body butters!
body wash or soap - body wash - love my Lush snow fairy one!
lush or other bath company - Lush is love!

fashion:
jeans or sweat pants - at home I love lounging around in sweat pants and I'd say I wrote 85% of my master thesis wearing them;)
long sleeve of short - hmmm - need a bit of a slave to cover my chubby arms;) but I'd say 3/4 is my fave
dresses or skirts - dresses;) have come to love dresses over the last three years before I'd never wear anything but jeans or black dress pants.
stripes or plaid - If I have to choose...stripes I guess..not a big big fan of either.
flip flops or sandals - sandals! or heels!
scarves or hats - scarves! love love scarves.
studs or dangly earrings - really like dangly earrings BUT they often pull too much on my ear and I love how pretty studs are!
necklaces or bracelets - hard one...my most precious pieces of jewelry of the two are necklaces
heels or flats HEEEEEEELS all the way - but have become a huge fan of ballerinas as well..but that has come to me within the last two years...and I'd never go out for a night out in flats or dancing in flats.
cowboy boots or riding boots - eh......????? cowboy I guess...
jacket or hoodie - jacket!
forever 21 or charlotte russe - F21 is my love love love!!
abercombie or Hollister -never gotten anything from either store.
saks 5th or nordstrom - hmmmm....not sure...like the actual individual stores instead of the department store counters...

hair:
curly or straight - love curly-voluminous but my hair is SO flat (or straight!)
bun or ponytail - love both...hard one...if my hair is doing well I have it down, if I want it to be easy I do bun OR ponytail and if it's just not working out for me I guess ponytail!
bobby pins or butterfly clips - BOBBY PINS are my life;)
hair spray or gel - spray . although I rarely use any product in my hair besides those in my shower...
long or short - long;)
light or dark - never colored so...dark
side sweep bangs or full bangs - side sweep for now;)
up or down - up for everything practical, down for drying, a date, or dancing (on a night out)

random:
Rain or shine - shine shine shine;)
Summer or winter - love the coziness of winter - candles, Christmas;) but love Summer and sunshine as well...guess it would have to be Summer...
Fall or spring - awww hard...Spring= b-day, sunshine, and Easter break - Fall=changing colors outside my window, indian summer days and fall break... - probably fall...
Chocolate or vanilla - stupid question! CHOCOLATE TOUJOUR!
East coast or west coast - Lived on the East Coast and probably feel more at home there - West Coast is great for vacation but maybe a bit too laid back for me?

Hope you liked my little get-to-know-me-better tag;)

BeautyBlog5 - Project 10 Pan

Inspired by Laura - Lollipop26, who writes this on her blog:

"Project 10 Pan has commenced.

What does this mean?

It means that I am not able to purchase any cosmetics until I have used up/hit pan on at least 10 items in my current collection.

It can be a foundation, lipstick, lipgloss, blusher, eyeshadow or eyeliner...anything like that...but I have to have completely used it up for it to count.

Once I have used up 10 I can then purchase something."

This blog and including all of you in my project is actually a way of keeping my word instead of impulse buying even more make up.

I recently lived in the U.S. - a true make up heaven price and selection-wise - and I've gathered quite a collection. However, my guilty conscience has been bugging me ever since Laura commenced her second round of Project 10 Pan about a month ago! Check out her video here!

So here are the 10 items, I'm counting on using the entire of within the coming weeks/month or two:

- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (1/3 left) (Included that in spite of Laura's instructions;)
- Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Foundation Primer (Close to empty)
- Revlon Color Stay Foundation in 350 Rich Tan (Under a 1/4 left)
- Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Creme (1/4 left)
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance - (about a 1/4 left)
- Cover Girl Last Blast Mascara - (less than half left)
- NYX Round Lipgloss in Honey (1/4 left)
- NYX Round Lipgloss in Whipped (1/2 left)
- MAC Studio Sculpt in NW25 (1/3 left)
- Cover Girl Eye Enhancer Eyeshadow in Champagne. (Bought this in August 2008 and still haven't finished it! Just fell back in love with it for highlighting the tear duct area and inner eyelid:) (1/4 left)

Check back for updates on my Project 10 Pan and let me know if you wanna join in! We could go shopping together to celebrate in a month or two!

BeautyBlog3 - Favorite Make Up Gurus!

Hey Lovelies!

So I wanted to share my love of YouTube gurus w/ you guys. If you are new to this universe then you should definitely check out these 10 amazing gurus! A lot of them have been featured in magazines like Elle and Seventeen Magazine. A lot of them also work either fulltime or freelance as make up artists.

1: kandeejohnson 178,039 subscribers on YouTube: My favorite guru. Amazing Kandee Johnson is a professional make up artist with a wonderful bubbly personality. Her videos are very easy to follow and indeed inspirational. She gives the best tips on how to maximize what you've got! Being on YouTube has even meant the creation of what she calls: Glaminars - hugely popular work shops all over the U.S. where she teaches all of her tricks to YouTube her viewers. A plus is her great personality and to make it even better she brings out the best in you too by watching her videos and that places her at the top of my Make Up Gurus List!

2: lollipop26 68,325 subscribers on YouTube : Laura aka lollipop26 is a favorite because of her great hauls and useful reviews. One of the things we have in common is the love of neutral and classy make up and fashion. The perfect pout is only a lipstick or lipgloss away, right? Now living in Dubai, Laura is originally from the U.K. Following her move and her hunt for a new apartment, new fashions and make up to go with her new life has been equally interesting.

3: DulceCandy87 121,002 subscribers on YouTube: As previously stated there is something special about DulceCandy. She returned from her posting Iraq last year and began posting videos on YouTube showing her many many hauls and make up tutorials. Now in college - studying fashion - her blog is constantly updated with OOTD and pictures of her recent buys. Her sense of style is very different from mine - loads of colors, loads of prints and all kinds of accessories - but she definitely has a very confident sense of style that I have to admit I admire!

4: MakeupByTiffanyD 130,042 subscribers on YouTube: Tiffany is the Sigma Make Up spokes/video person (amazing brushes in MAC quality at half the price!). I subscribed to her because of her very inspirational make up tutorials - her hauls (everything from Sigma to MAC and Lush) and I've found that I very often agree with her review of things, when I get to see them in real life. Her tutorials and the technique are very easy to follow and the results are amazing!

5: Allthatglitters21 165,133 subscribers on YouTube: Elle is the sweetest girl. She is a senior in college and reminds me of a lot the girls I met while studying in the U.S. She is so exited about everything and has made great videos for more than a year now. Sometimes I really feel like she is like the real life Legally Blonde Elle - and I mean that in the best way! She is sooooo sweet and they even talk kinda the same - watch her organizing video and you'll see what I mean;) I just love her! I mainly watch her for her hauls and her small vlogs (ramblings on everything from make up to life in general). Also she was the one to convince me I needed to give Lush a chance. <3 thanks Elle! P.S. Her younger sister Blair also makes videos on YouTube as Juicystar07 :)

6: emilynoel83 40,924 subscribers on YouTube: Emily initially caught my eye because she was doing easy pretty make up looks with drugstore products. Being a student, my budget is not always for MAC and high end products. Working as a news anchor on a morning tv show, Emily is really good at communicating and her reviews of products + plus her husband Tayler, who sometimes co-hosts her beautybroadcasts, it's sure to entertain, when Emily posts a video.

7: panacea81 320,860 subscribers on YouTube: Of the YouTube gurus I've been following for the last almost two years Lauren is probably the one, who has gained most success from making videos. A shy girl from the UK, she actually began making tutorials without any training on YouTube because she was selling make up online and costumers were asking for application and swatches. One day she switched to doing looks replication celebrities (like many of the other gurus are doing now) and Lauren's Leona Lewis Better in Time look shot her into stardom. The video has more than a million views, Lauren was contacted by companies, by the BBC and eventually launched her own make up line called bylaurenluke, which was launched by Sephora in the U.S. last year. She is now working on the second leg of her line to be launched in the Spring/Summer of 2010.

8: Xteeener 123,392 subscribers on YouTube: My very first YouTube make up video was one of Christine's looks. I think it was a natural smokey eye tutorial for Asian eyes. I was just looking for inspiration. I really enjoy watching Christine's videos because she is very down to earth. Christine is very good at finding good bargins and give tips for dupes of MAC products. She uses mainly drugstore products, which at the beginning of my YouTube-watching suited me perfectly.

9: Fafinettex3 218,413 subscribers on YouTube: Aubrey is one of the gurus I've been watching for the longest time. She and I are the same coloring, which has helped me tremendously in determining what foundation color to go for and which colors would suit me in general. She makes great tutorials and used to do a lot of hauls! Her channel was recently hacked into so a lot of her great videos from the past year and a half are gone :( but she is currently rebuilding the channel. Love her! She is kinda goofy at times, which also suits me very well!

10: michele1218 12,102 subscribers on YouTube: Michele has become one of my favorite gurus lately. I love her hauls and her very easy, great looking tutorials! We share the girly obsession with make up and have bonded over our love. She is a really nice girl and her often neutral looks go great with my preferences. Also she replies to all of her comments and her dog Jake is the sweetest thing!

Happy YouTubing!

xoxo

BeautyBlog2 - December 2009 Favorites

In the spirit of my favorite make up gurus here are my picks for December 2009 favorites - a little late I know - but better late than never:

- MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW25 - my holy grail since I first started using it in August of 09. Previously, I've been using the YSL Touché Eclat but there is no way I'm going back to that!

- Revlon ColorStay Foundation in 350 Rich Tan- I decided to give it a try after Fafinettex3 recommended it. I love it! I was almost out of my Clinique ... and had been thinking of trying the Even Better Foundation from Clinique after Allthatglitters21 raved about it...I may still try that and the MUFE one at some point but for now Revlon is my absolute favorite.

- ELF Warm Bronzer palette - I kept reaching for it every day to give a warm sheen to my face and to highlight! I still haven't bought my first MAC MSF, so for now the ELF Warm Bronzer will have to do, and I've loved it ever since I got it.

- The Shady Lady palette by The Balm - I saw it in one of the first videos I ever watched with Kandee Johnson (<3) and I just had to have it. I finally got it in December and I've been loving it ever since. Especially the colors: caught in the act courtney, shamless shana and luscious lani - the top three from left to right and easy wheezie - the bottom right corner. Although all shimmery, I am just in love with the way they look, when applied, and a girl needs a bit of glimmer to get through the day;)

- Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Earthly Taupe - been using it every day in December as an all over lid color for almost any look. Love the fact that it goes on mat and is buildable.

- Runway Pink Mineral Lipstick from ELF - just saw Lollipop26's great review on this. Love this one too! Especially paired with the mineral lipgloss from ELF in trophy wife.

- TreSemmé Heat Tamer Spray. A recommendation from Xteeener, and it's a favorite every every month. Just makes my hair so smooth and I love the scent!

- Ocean Salt Face Scrub from Lush. I finally received my first Lush order in December! I am loving everything! Will do a separate beautyblog on my love for Lush soon! The scrub smells like a marvelous margarita and leaves your skin baby smooth. The lime in the scrub really leaves your skin with a sense of having been deep cleaned. Love love love it!

- Rock Star soap! Now I get what all the raving was about (Allthatglitters21)! Even my mom and grandma liked it;) Although Snow Fairy is amazing too - Rock Star is my favorite Lush bar soap for now.

- Lush Shower Jelly in Sweety Pie - the jello like substance is kind of wierd at first, but as soon as I tried it out I fell in love with it. It has the softest best smelling lather ever. Description from Lush.com: "Lashings of blackcurrant and bergamot essential oils in a sour cherry and coconut jelly make this about as fruity as you can get. It is incredibly difficult to resist taking a spoonful. Instead, take a handful and smooth it over your hair and body. Passing strangers will smell you and find their minds wandering to fruit pastilles." And they're right!

- My newest favorite and all time best blending brush is the C200 Deluxe Crease from Coastal Scents. I am loving it. I have a lot of the Sigma brushes, which I also love, but have still to try their 224 brush!

- My Coastal Scents Synthetic Wide Buffer Brush - it's amazing for buffing in my setting powder for a flawless finish!
