Hey Lovlies,
So a friend of mine is visiting the States very soon and she asked for an overview and some tips for buying a little bit of everything. I thought it was a good idea to give you guys a small intro/overview of what to look for make up and skin care-wise if you're starting out or looking to try some new products but don't know where to start.
Note: This is targeted towards shopping in the U.S. but some/most products are also available in Denmark or online!
Make up:
Face primer:
Laura Mercier has a great face primer - in many different versions according to your skin type! If you wanna give it a go then I suggest giving her flawless face kit a try - includes the must-talked about tinted moisturizer and other goodies.
Foundation:
Liquid foundation-wise I would suggest the MakeUpForever HD Foundation or their MatVelvet+, if your skin is combination/oily. However, this is a 35-40 dollar foundation so if you want to go for a cheaper alternative go to your local drugstore for the Revlon Colorstay or Photo Ready foundation! The Colorstay gives great coverage and the PhotoReady gives a flawless finish - their version of the MUFE HD foundation AND the price is around 10 dollars!
Powder:
I only use a setting powder - and I would suggest the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural - get shade-matched at your MAC counter or possibly the MUFE HD Microfinish Powder Many drugstore brands have great powders as well!
Bronzer/Blush:
Benefit's Hoola bronzer or Coralista blush are very popular. If you want to save money then go to MAC for a great color selection or even NYX for a 5 dollar blush. For creme blush the N.Y.C. blushable creme sticks have been getting a lot of well-deserved hype this summer. It's only like 3 dollars at the drugstore! N.Y.C. also has a great bronzer in Sunny for around 3 dollars!
For blush and bronzer a lot of people also love Nars products. They are pretty expensive but really good. Their blush/bronzer combo in Orgasm/Laguna is widely popular.
Eyeshadow primer:
Makes your eyeshadow last all day - I adore the Too Faced Shadow Insurance but a lot of beauty gurus swear by the Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Eyeshadow:
I love MAC shadows. If you go to a MAC store/counter you can buy a palette and choose four colors and make your own combo! Great idea!
I you are in the U.S. now or will be going soon then check out Urban Decay's amazing new limited edition Naked Palette
BUT eyeshadows are just as good if you get them at the drugstore - and cheap! Look for Maybelline quads in Expert Wear Eye Shadow Quads or Stylish Smokes quads.
CoverGirl Eye Enhancer Kits are also popular as are Revlon!
The difference in price from Sephora/department stores to drugstore ranges from 10-20+ dollars so it is definetely worth looking at the drugstore brands!
Eyeliner:
I just use anything black! I like Almay, MAC and Urban Decay.
Mascara:
My HOLY grail is the CoverGirl Lash Blast in water proof. I am waiting to try the new version called Fusion! (Price app. 7 dollars!)
There are of course loads of other brands to take a look at. First high end ones!
There is a lot of rave about the YSL Faux Cils - but it is 30 dollars!
There us also the Make Up Forever Smokey Lash - I am contemplating trying this one and breaking my two year + dedication to CoverGirl!
Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Lash har også fået mange positive omtaler på YT. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P49014&categoryId=S10510&shouldPaginate=true
Dior Show - always a favorite - a classic! But I ditched it because it was not in waterproof - it is now so I might give it a new try as well!
Don't like MAC mascaras! So nothing on them!
Drugstore mascaras are a lot cheaper and many of them just as good from what I hear. Here are some of the ones that are getting good reviews:
The Colossal Volum' Express by Maybelline
Lash Stiletto, Sexy Curves Mascara and The Max Volume by Rimmel
Double Extended by L'Oreal - one of my YouTube faves, Kandee Johnson loves this! I tried it out and didn't like it (should have tried a waterproof I guess) Now it lives w my friend Helle;)
Telescopic Mascara, Voluminous and Volume Collagen Mascaras by L'Oreal
Define a Lash by Maybelline
All of these are given somewhat good reviews by loads of girls - and the occasional great guy!:) on YouTube.
Lipbalm:
Korres Lipbutters! My favorite one is Jasmin.
Drugstore balms include the L'oreal HIP Jelly Balms and this summer's hype, the EOS LipBalms - formed like little balls/eggs!
Lipgloss:
LOVE lipgloss but hate the stickiness! Therefore no MAC lip glosses except the CremeSheen Glass-no stickiness, only creamy consistency! Also love the NYX mega shines and Round lip glosses - and they are like 2-4 dollars! Also like the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss. Some of them are like the CremeSheen Glass and I want to try this summer's collection with Coral Reef, Peach Petal, Pink Pop and Lilac Pastelle!
Lipsticks:
NYX round lipsticks! app. 3 dollars! MAC is great for the color selection and formulas! app. 14 dollars. For drugstore lipstick look for Revlon Super Lustrous has so many different shades, app. 8 dollars, or their ColorBurst line! and Maybelline's Color Sensational line is also great!
Nails:
If you can find it I absolutely love OPI - app. 10. dollars a bottle. Essie! A classic and what you get at most nail salons along w OPI - app. 8 dollars.
Of course my first nail polish love Chanel!
For a slightly cheaper alternative check out ChinaGlaze - a lot of different colors - and their most famous one For Audrey /Something Blue - the Tiffany & Co color is everywhere;)
Remember the Top coat Dry fast favorite Seche Vite!
Next up is skin care!
Hope you found this helpful - please leave a comment w any thoughts, questions or such. If you need a website reference as to where to buy any of this from DK also let me know!

BeautyBlog50-Perfect Nails
Hi my lovelies,
I love perfectly done nails. There's nothing worse than cracked nails if you ask me. I used to bite my nails. Gross, I know but ever since I stopped I've appreciated the way nails look when they're polished and nice!
I also admire other women's nails - a lot! I think it stems from the time I used to bite and wish I had pretty hands like everyone else.
When I was a little girl, my grandfather promised me a dolly if I stopped biting my nails. I tried and kind of succeeded. He was kind enough to ignore the times I failed and bought me a dolly and a shower station to pamper the dolly in. However, I still hadn't fully stopped but I soon became determined to do just so - and I finally did. Sometime around the time I was 15.
Ever since, I've loved having my nails done up nicely. I love nail polishes. Like my clothes I go for the natural shades. I never wear black, blue or even red. I prefer pinks. I had my first professional manicure back in 2008. Loved it but somehow felt like it was money I'd rather spend on clothes and a nice dinner. AND I like doing my own nails. My own little spa time;)
Today I was given a nail polish. My favorite nail polish brand is Chanel. Ballerina has been my go to staple for years. The one I got today was Rose Satin.

I love me some Chanel!

BeautyBlog31 - Dream a little dream of...
Hi my lovelies,
I've been seriously looking at the things, I've been wanting lately - also in accordance with my Project 10 Pan, so I've tried to be reasonable and only go for the things I really want and that are realistic!
Therefore my rather random wish list for the spring/summer of 2010 looks like this:

YSL Parisienne - I just have to have this amazing parfume. I got a small sample of it yesterday and it's SO me. I think I may be switching signature scent! More on that in a future blog post I promise.

iPhone - still my number one wish for this spring! I'm being a good girl and not spending money on anything at the moment:)

A signature jacket - everyone should get one this spring and if it's Chanel- inspired it's even better! And me being the girl I am, I absolutely love jackets - and blazers. Always have, always will!

MAC MSF Natural - I want to try this to see if it sets my foundation and keeps my skin matte and non- shiny throughout the day. Been using the NYC finishing powder, and thought of trying the MAC or MUFE one...but everyone loves the MSF naturals and I want that natural finish.

MAC Pink Swoon Blush - I want to try this blush because I need a signature blush. One I can always turn to - which will give me that healthy flushed look without being too pink since my cheeks are kind of reddish in several spots!

Lush Big Hair - everyone raves, I want to try!

Korres: Lipbutter in Jasmin - makeupbytiffanyd and others love this, and it looks so pretty and natural. I am an absolute sucker for lip products - especially lip balms! Think I bought my first Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Creme at the age of 17!

Watch - I am loving Michael Kors - and Omega and Rolex but those a bit expensive:)

Couch/Coffee table - I need a small couch and coffee table for my apartment. Been using my bed as couch/bed and it's getting old. I want to relax in a couch with pillows, a blanket and put my feet up on a small coffee table with flowers and books on it;) FYI: The above picture is NOT my apartment - I only wish it was;)

BeautyBlog11 -Style vs. Fashion -
Fashion fades - style pervades!
I admire people with style! At the moment this girl is at the top of my list:

Miroslava Duma "Russia's IT Girl" and from what DulceCandy87 says she is also an editor @ Harpar's Bazaar Magazine in Russia. Her sense of style is the perfect blend of classic, upper east side (yes I love GG!) and fashion forward - she is not just new trends she's style with a sense - excuse me - STRONG sense of fashion. Okay, being able to wear YSl, Missoni and Hèrmes at the same time all helps...but at least I and you can find inspiration! The fact that her full name is Miroslava and her friends call her Mira also adds that something extra, don't you think? :)
Also the thing about Mira's style: 1) chic & smart 2) less is more 3) think big (often a big bag as the only accessory) 4) shoes must be black - (could have be me talking) and 5) Signature hair!
Personally, I'm quite picky about what I want to wear and what I like - people who know me well can probably testify to that. I am the kind of person, who usually takes about a season to get used to the 'it' thing of the particular season. By the time another season rolls in, I'm ready to start wearing whatever everyone has worn for ages. I'm probably pretty conservative in the way I dress - I just use another c-word: Classic;)
And although I dearly love fashion and the amazing fashion spreads in Vogue even fashion fades. Style - if real and confident can live forever. I admire anyone who has their own style and sticks to it! I may not like a particular item or color or print or ever wear it myself but if someone else steps into a room with confidence and style, I may find that they are the most well-dressed even though someone else is spotting the lastest trend right next to it. I'm often inspired by those kind of people.

I'm also the kind of girl who loves heals no matter what. I bought a pair of ballerina flats for the first time last summer and I wore them until they broke...I never thought I would do that. Keep in mind however that I stuck to my one and only shoe color - my love: black. Since my first ballerina flats I've found that I actually like them. (I will probably not admit to this in real life but they are a kinda (okay more) comfortable than my beloved high heels). And I totally loved them all summer! I lived in them and only wore heels at night! Another thing I love is boots - high heeled boots...but since everyone started wearing flat boots a season or two ago and they are now walking around in knee high ones, I'm tempted to buy flat boots.

Back to my favorite color for a while: Black - BLACK! I love black. I once bought a pair of really nice peep toe silk silvery high pumps in London. I feel in love with them instantly and knew I had to have them.....I've never worn them, and ever since I've told myself to think of them looking oh so nicely on display but being essentially useless (useless said in a low whisper :) ) when I shop for shoes and therefore, I've only bought black ever since. My absolute favorite black heels are from Steve Madden, I found them on sale in New York at Loehmans for 17 dollars! They were a lot more but the girl at the check out (her first day) was so stressed that she accidentally took 50 % off the already 50% off a loooooot of time:)
However, recently, I've ventured out and started wearing: white and blue - this summer I even got into fuchsia, purples and grey for a while. I was once asked in a survey whether I dressed to impress or for the occasion. I would say I do both but most often I probably end up dressing for the occasion more than to impress - and if I have to be honest what happens is that I often end up over-dressing for a low key occasion...don't you just hate when that happens...!? But then again - confidence and a smile can take you a long way!;)
Of the girlfriends I'm closest to I could probably pick out an outfit that they would wear in a store if they asked me to. They have their own unique style.
My best girlfriend has great style. She always looks very well put together and although she doesn't blow the budget once a month to follow the latest fashion she is somehow always just right! She has style and that is among one of the many many things I admire her for.
Another amazing girlfriend follows fashion quite closely and is a lot more courageous than I when it comes to incorporating fashion trends into her wardrobe. What she excels at is using trends to further enhance her own very secure sense of style. She was the one who taught me that investing in a pair of very expensive designer sunglasses could make even the most rainy and boring day with an pair of sweatpants from H&M and messy hair feel like a day in paradise - because having style and feeling confident is not necessarily about wearing the latest thing of the run way but to be wearing the right thing.
All I can say is that ever since she told me that, I've been wanting to buy a pair of Chanel sunglasses;)
