Hi my lovelies,
The Academy Awards is only hours away! And so is the red carpet - THE shining moment of anything fashion-beauty-glam-related!
Looking forward to my favorites walking the red carpet - looking forward to stars like Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, Cate Blanchet, Sandra Bullock, Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hillary Swank, Reese Witherspoon and of course Oprah!
Wonder if Rachel Zoe styled Anne for the hosting-job?
So stay tuned for my best and worst dressed picks coming up later tonight!
xoxo

BeautyBlog79- Golden Globes Fashion
Hi my lovelies,
Last night the stars shined on the red carpet at the 68th annual Golden Globes! Overall, I feel like this year was less interesting fashion-wise! There were shining stars but they were quite rare compared to earlier red carpets. Personally, I was thrilled to see Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch and Glee win overall. The Social Network and Natalie Portman for Black Swan (will see it late tonight) were big faves in my book.
But onto what this really is about!
Top 5 best dressed
1) Carrie Underwood

The princess of country gets it just right at her first GG in a fabulous Badgley Mischka dress covered in sequins.
2) Claire Danes

She shines in this very classic (typical Danes) Calvin Klein dress. Very smooth and classy! We like!
3) Eva Longoria

The soon-to-be single gal, Ms. Longoria looks amazing in this black Zac Posen gown! Very classic Longoria style but nevertheless great for the red carpet! What I love most about her red carpet style is that is seems so effortless!
4. Oliva Wilde

Ms. Wilde turned heads in her multi-layered tulle and embellished Marchesa gown. But I did not like her gold Chistian Louboutain's with that dress!
5. Amy Adams

Not on many other best dressed lists but definitely making mine is also Ms. Adams in a teal Marchesa gown. I think she was one of the most well put-together stars last night - hair and make up perfect for the dress.
Honorary mentions:
- Sandra Bullock

But I think the overall effect would have been a lot better if she had had her hair pulled back and up instead of down and heavy with bangs.
- Sofie Vergara

However, the Vera Wang dress and look is a bit too plain in a way - too amateur'ish compared to Longoria or Underwood in my opinion.
- Mila Kunis

Looking good and every inch the starlet she is becoming - somehow I just feel like the fabric looks a crushed and crumbled in a has been way - the kind of fabric and style (although I love the one shoulder and top of the dress) is a bit outdated.
- Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

Still, I feel like the peach colored dress is a bit too pastel with her beach blonde hair - and I don't like the sleeves - perhaps it's just a bit too boring and plain?
Those were my favorites - now on to my:
Top 5 worst dressed
1) Michelle Williams

Daisy anyone? This dress is vintage but also very girly - and frumpy in spite of being Valentino. Really, a red carpet dress...what was she thinking - I D Y E....Rachel Zoe style - and not in a good way!
2) Heidi Klum

Oh no...sometimes Klum gets it just right and sometimes she really bombs...I mean what is up with this 1970s inspired Marc Jacobs frock...it's the Golden Globes - make an effort to dress according to Hollywood 2011 - or at least from the 1940-60s instead of drowning somewhere in the 1970s;(
3) Jennifer Lopez

She normally stuns me at awards shows but this Zuhair Murad dress was so 90s! Very much what I'd expect from her when she just emerged - from the flimsy cover to her hair and make up! What happened to the sexy confident Jenny from the block?
4) Tilda Swinton

OMG what is that? A white shirt and a light yellow skirt - looks just horrible - again this is the Golden Globes - she has looked both amazing and horrendous in previous shows - with her I just feel it's mostly a miss!
5) Anne Hathaway

Anne, Anne - the idea of an Armani gown with low cut back and bronzy sequins may seem like a good idea - but knowing Rachel Zoe is your stylist...I feel like this is the kind of dress Zoe would wear but not the kind of thing Anne Hathaway wears -my main concern is the fabric - it just looks cheap on her...
A few WTF?
Some of my former favorites on the red carpet Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Scarlet Johansen Catherine Zeta Jones, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Leighton Meester, Christina Hendricks and January Jones all disappointed me with either their choice of color or cut. The most interesting one being Berry's Nina Ricci dress or underwear with a train or whatever that was.

Extra mention: Danish director Susanne Bier wins a Golden Globe for best foreign film: In a better world.

She looks good in the white/cream dress - just need her hair up and a bit of bling from Harry W and she could really battle it out on the red carpet - especially in light of the disappointing all over fashion this year!
So what did you all think?
Who was your best and worst dressed? Please leave a comment below sharing your pick with me:)

BeautyBlog52-I would love me some lenses
Hi my lovelies,
I'm getting on the band wagon - the colored contact lenses wagon. All the cool kids are doing it! Well at least a lot of the YouTube guru's I'm following.
I'm Korean and a lot of the girls I watch on YouTube are Asian or Korean, since it's great for make up tips. I match their skin color and a lot of the looks they do will look great on me too. One of the things everyone has been into lately are the circle lenses. Colored contact lenses in all kinds of colors. It has been huge in Asia and particular Korea for a while and now I want to try it out. I have small eyes and the lenses really accentuate and make my eyes look a loooot bigger;)
I'm gonna start with the very popular Angel Brown, which I will get from lenscircle.com

Since it looks really pretty, I've also been toying with the idea of trying blue lenses;)

I've been watching one guru in particular for lens-inspiration - Jarmaine - JlovesMAC has a great video: BIG Doll Eye Contacts on how to achieve those bigger doll looking eyes we all dream of - okay, I dream of;)
Another is hollyannaeree, check out her video where you can see the blue lenses here: Easy Smokey Eye Routine Tutorial Great for Asian Eyes
Here she wears the grey ones, I've been debating a lot over these, what do you guys think? I may even like they grey better than blue! Maybelline Natural Smokes Tutorial: SIMPLE Mild Brown Smokey Eye: My everyday look when using this

The price is around 34 dollars + shipping to Denmark (10 dollars) so all in all about 45 dollars. Jarmaine has a cupon code JLoves15 that takes off 15%!

BeautyBlog51-I love online shopping...and why I should consider becoming a wedding planner!
Hi my lovelies,
My March favorites are being uploaded tomorrow! But before I want to share this amazing site with you:
Etsy.com I have to say I have not ordered anything from there myself but I've seen Lollipop26's recent haul - she is a favorite guru of mine and I totally trust her judgement!
Etsy.com is an online store. Etsy was founded in June, 2005. It's a community and a company. The Etsy community spans the globe with buyers and sellers coming from more than 150 countries. Etsy sellers number in the hundreds of thousands.
If each of these sellers stood outside at night with a really bright flashlight pointed towards the sky, it might look something like the image this:

This is what Laura - Lollipop26 bought on there:

I absolutely love the Sideways Cross Necklace. (Small Handcrafted 14K Gold Filled Cross and Chain - Simple And Modern) It's inspired by the cross, Taylor Jacobson wears on the Rachel Zoe Project.

Another couple of wonderful things I have to put on my wish list are:
Earrings with any kind of turquoise/aqua colored stones:

Scented candles, preferably in pomegranate like scents:

And if I were to pick a few wedding related things - a bit of alternative hair decoration, a cool cake topper and simple pearl studs for the big day:) You'd think I was the one getting married...maybe I should go into wedding planning!?:

Etsy.com sells things under all the below categories, so you'd better put aside some quality time to go shopping;)
Accessories
Art
Bags and Purses
Bath and Beauty
Books and Zines
Candles
Ceramics and Pottery
Children
Clothing
Crochet
Dolls and Miniatures
Everything Else
Furniture
Geekery
Glass
Holidays
Housewares
Jewelry
Knitting
Music
Needlecraft
Paper Goods
Patterns
Pets
Plants and Edibles
Quilts
Supplies
Toys
Vintage
Weddings
Woodworking
The Weddings section in particular caught my eye. Two friends getting married this year, so I'm all hooked on the wedding thing right now;)

BeautyBlog49-Styling my summer looks;)
Hi my lovelies,
I'm trying to stay calm and relaxed but it's hard....I have a wedding to go to in three months and I have no idea what to wear...well, I'm assuming a dress but which one?
I've been toying around with all sorts of ideas...you'll be able to follow my quest for the right dress (sounding suspiciously like the bride instead of just another guest in the wedding party - but wedding are a big deal;)
Today I found this great thing on H&M.com - the style it yourself guide that allows you to style look using their clothes and the trends for spring summer. I love it - and although my final outfit may not be from H&M - well probably not - I had loads of fun putting together looks today.
These are five of the looks I put together using the H&M Fashion Studio!

Hope you like them!

BeautyBlog48-I HEART fur!
Hi my lovelies,
I wanted to share with you my love of fur!

I know that there are people out there including several of my friends, who do not like real fur - I respect and accept them, so I hope you'll do the same for me. I grew up around fur production as well, so I may have a different take on how fur comes to exist.
So today I went to Kopenhagen Fur International Show 2010 and I loved it as always. The high light of the International Show is the fashion show. See the video here. The fashion show this year was one of the best ever. Especially, because it was so cutting edge as opposed to previous years, where it was often a bit too traditional with just one long coat after another. This year the director of Style Counsel and a big love of mine Uffe Buchard had put together a great show that really broadcast all the new ways in which fur is being used by designers in new ways all around the world.

I will try and post pictures ASAP - waiting for really good ones from the website otherwise, I'll upload my iPhone shots.
In the mean time check out COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK OPENING SHOW BY KOPENHAGEN FUR video here, which features a lot of the things I saw today!
A little extra info for all of you fashion fur loving people out there:
Fur is really big in fashion this year, and the fur on the April auction may break all previous records. According to the website of Kopenhagen Fur, the Danish fur industry sells close to 18 million skins each year and Kopenhagen Fur is thereby the world’s largest fur auction house and the leading provider of luxury fur. Also Kopenhagen Fur has a turnover of 5 billion Danish kroner (880 million USD) per year and Fur skins are Denmark’s largest export commodity to the booming economy in Hong Kong/China.
Winter 2010/11 will be soooo big when it comes to fur. What I love most about the new designs are the way designers have taken to using fur. Not just the Dynasty Alexis Carrington way- although I loved the 80s glam as well.

No less than 54 out of the 70 designers in the last NYC fashion week showcased collections included fur - on hats, collars, dresses, boots, purses, etc. As The New York magazine wrote: "It's a fur day, it's a fur week... A season of lots of furs and skins." - (Kopenhagenfur.com)
Let me show you a bit of what the international fashion designers gave us to dream about during fashion week:

So I hope you see all the loveliness I see when it comes to fur!
Also - please leave a comment! I'd SOOOOO love to know that someone is actually reading my blog. I get comments from people on Facebook etc. saying they want to but don't feel like they have anything to say about fashion or make up - doesn't matter. Just knowing you're out there reading will make my day!
xoxo
