BeautyBlog74-My perfect imperfections

Hi lovelies,

This tag has been going around for a while. I like it because besides looking at the imperfections we all feel we have (something that most people don't actually notice/care about) it also celebrates the ability to say nice things about yourself.

Therefore, this blog post is actually a bit more about me and a bit less about make up!

In my teens and early twenties, I struggled immensely with self-confidence issues - mainly about my body - but in the recent years, I've been inspired by so many strong and confident women, and have matured enough to say to myself: relax a little more, don't stress about the things you think other people see (because most times they really don't), and to just be more happy and more me! I do feel better about myself and I think that confidence has made me a more happy and relaxed person to be around!

SO first the three imperfections:

1) I seriously wish I had a nicer nose! Not the shape as much as the large pores and the fact that it gets soooo shiny/oily all the time! Luckily, I've learned make up tricks to minimize the shine and pores but still it bothers me a lot more than it should!
I always envy women with flawless skin and non-shiny t-zones;)

2) I hate the fact that my skin scars so easily and that the scars are so dark and hard to get rid of. No matter how small a wound, I have a scar for the next month (on my face) and even longer on my legs or arms. No remedy has been able to cure me of that! Maybe it has to do with my skin-tone or my skin in general, I don't know but I've thought of going to a dermatologist for advice.

3) I don't like to wear sleeveless tops or tank tops because I feel like my arm pits - or rather the skin on the front of my armpit towards my torso is way too bulky and fat (I know we are really getting into the small obsessive things now;)

Therefore on to the good and great things about myself!

1) I like my hair - most of the time - I never cared that much about it (having it cut or using the right shampoo) but I was always okay with how it looked - and since it's sooooo straight and without volume I kind of had to get used to it;) BUT there's nothing like newly washed hair that dries into soft layers;)

2) A strange thing: I like my cheekbones - the ones I never knew I had but discovered through make up and I really do believe they have become more define in the last few years- maybe my (teenage)face finally settled into its lines;) I like how they define my face more than before where I always felt my face was too round and too undefined.

3) I like my hands. They are pretty small - most people comment on how small my fingers are - but I never think about that. I like the actual hand-part of my hand. Is that weird? Possibly;) But I guess I like my entire hand the best, when I have my nails done. For some reason I pretty much have baby-soft skin on my hands.

So what are your perfect imperfections?

Please let me know in the comment box below!

BeautyBlog72-Introducing Fashionismycrush

Hi my lovelies,

Here is another one of those: You-just-have-to-watch-this-girl's-YouTube-videos-rave. I thought I'd give you a crash course on my favorite beauty gurus: Fashionismycrush - aka. Jen - make up junkies unite!

I've been following Jen for the last year - all of 2010 and the main reason I love Jen is because of her amazing overviews of brands - called Drugstore Diaries. In those videos she reviews an entire make up brand from lips, eyes to face products.

But she also does amazing haul videos - giving you great ideas of what and what not to spend you hard earned money on.

Here are some of my favorite videos and a way for you to get introduced to Jen and what she does best: share the love of make up;)

Drugstore Diaries:

Drugstore Diaries: NYX Cosmetics Review

Drugstore Diaries: Maybe It's Maybelline

Drugstore Diaries: UK Edition - Barry M Haul

Drugstore Diaries: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation (aka Dream Creamy)

Hauls: (Danish readers of my blog can also order from CherryCulture.com! They have NYX and Milani products for cheap:) - AllCosmeticWholesale.com also ships internationally!

Sephora Friends & Family Sale Haul 2010

Cherry Culture Haul + A Blooper :)

Random Haul: Sephora & ACW

Finally, Jen has a great guide for you lucky U.S. people or international readers with the opportunity to shop at a CCO - Cosmetic Company Outlet Store that sells Estee Lauder owned make up brands with a huge discount (Clinique, Origins, MAC, Estee Lauder etc.) in the U.S. while on vacation!

All About CCOs & CCO'ing

So I hope you enjoy Jen's videos as much as I do!

BTW: Jen also does fashion Outfit of the Day stuff and has a blog

BeautyBlog71-My make up story

Hi lovelies,

A tag has been going around for a while now asking people to share they make up stories;)

So here's mine. Please share yours in the comment box below;)

MY MAKE UP STORY!

Questions:

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I started wearing make-up when I was around 16. I wore it sparingly throughout 9th and 10th grade. Started wearing make up daily from the time I entered Gymnasium - when I was 17. However, I did not get into make up, You tube and all that good stuff until the late spring of 2008.

2. How did you get into makeup?
Two friends originally inspired me. The first let me use her face powder and brown eyeliner, and I loved it. The second taught me about black eye-liner. Youtube-wise the first big influences were: Panacea81, Xteeener and Kandee Johnson.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?
Drugstore: Revlon, Maybelline and NYX.
Higher End: Urban Decay, MAC and Chanel.

4. What does makeup mean to you?
I love how make up has increased my (self) confidence tremendously! Also I love to get creative, try out new things and colors! (Although I'm basically a neutrals girl!)

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?
Foundation, mascara, blush and eyebrow powder/chapstick.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
How it can transform your face into something wonderful - it's still you but a prettier version;)

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?
I love both. High end tends to last longer in my basic stach but drugstore def. has had a great impact on my ability to experiment.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?
Start with neutrals! Watch videos, do research and then try it out!

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Black lips, very colorful make up, and over contouring.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
I love it! I have really found an outlet for my interest, made great friends and I've become soo inspired!

BeautyBlog67-Skin Care 101

Hey Lovelies!

Part 2 of Beauty 101 coming right at ya! Sorry for the delay! Here are my go to skin care products + a bit more!

Disclaimer: I have oily combination skin so the majority of these products are targeted my skin type! I do however, try to give other suggestions.

As you may know, if you've been following my blog for a while, I simply love my Cetaphil cleanser. I raved about it several times! (My skin care routine and Five Fab Favorites) It's great for any kind of skin - it doesn't really lather but it cleanses really well! You can find this at CVS 7-9 dollars. Enough for several months and I'm never going back to Clinique soap!

BTW: Before using my Cetaphil, I always remove my make up with a baby wipe so the soap can really cleanse the skin! The trick to perfect skin without make-up break outs!

I also love LUSH! (Shout-out to AC for introducing me to this amazing brand) So if you're able to get your hands on anything LUSH then be sure to check out their face products! I love Dark Angels but it's for oily skin only - check out Angels on bare skin or any of the other amazing body/bath products like bath boms, bath melts and soaps! Makes bath time fun and luxurious;)

You can order LUSH products from the UK to DK from this website lush.co.uk

These are some other YouTube hyped products I've either tried out or is dying to try out!

Purity Made Simple Cleanser - I think it's like Cetaphil (the expensive 20 dollar version) but I still wanna try it out to see what all the fuss is about! It can only be bought at Sephora or Ulta in the U.S.

Since I have a special fondness for all things Ole Henriksen I have also been eyeing his Three Little Wonders kit but it is 70 dollars in the U.S. and probably outrageously expensive in Denmark! I don't understand why Danes cannot buy Ole's products from his U.S. online store! BTW: I used to loooove his little green lip balm - retails for around 15 dollars.

Another YouTube hyped favorite is the Fresh Soy Cleanser, which I really wanna give a try. Normally, foam cleansers are not great for my skin but it has improved and loads of people say it's the bomb... Additionally, their Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is getting a lot of attention on blogs and YouTube.

Always wanted to try Kiehl's. I've heard many good things about their shampoos, their lip balms and of course their Creme De Corps. Did any of you try any of their products? Please let me know if I should give it a chance!?

I've dreamt of getting the Clarisonic Mia ever since I first saw it reviewed on YouTube. I've been using the Neutrogena Wave cleanser (check out my review here) but it broke and now I'm saving up for a CM - but 200 dollars...!?

For facial moisturizer I use my beloved Laniege skin care products. AND I still swear by the Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion for extra moisture. I am also in love with the Clinique All About Eyes creme! Give it a try. You will love it!

However, here are a few drug store face lotions I've heard a lot of good things about:

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion SPF 15
Clean and Clear Finishes Pore Perfecting Moisturizer
Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Spf 30

Drugstore must have face-scrubs/masks/suggestions!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask - again check out my mini review - it's a must have...! 3 dollars. Think you may be able to find it online on ebay or so.

St. Ives Blemish And Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub - if this is too harsh for your skin then try the one for sensitive skin! I love this products but have been using my Dark Angels instead, since my St. Ives ran out!

Clean and Clear products! Used them back in 2001 and found them too teenage-like but when I got back on the wagon in 2008 they had improved and have a lot of great affordable products. Very much a cheaper version of Neutrogena products now also sold in Denmark! I got a face scrub from Føtex. Recently I was sent the MORNING BURST® In-Shower Facial by a wonderful friend in the U.S. and I can really recommend this if you can get your hands on it

Last but not least I love the Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips - great for removing black/white heads!

So that was it for my skin care 101

Hope you liked it!

Any questions or comments are very very welcome - just leave them below!

BeautyBlog66-2010 Summer Hype: EOS Lipbalm

Hey Lovelies!

So this post will be about one of the major 2010 summer hype-products - the EOS Lip Balm Smooth Sphere.

The little egg shaped packaging has had beauty-addicts like myself going Gaga all summer. Unfortunately, EOS (Evolution Of Smooth) sphere lip balms are not sold in Denmark, so I luckily had a friend (thanks Katrine!) bring me one back from the US of Amazing A! However, they can be ordered online on ebay and amazon. If you're living in Denmark EOS can be bought through nicehair.dk

So - I'm not gonna lie - I bought this lip balm because of the packaging, the unique shape of the lip balm itself and a bit beacuse of all the hype it has gotten on beauty blogs and YT this summer. I got the Summer Fruit and I'm hopefully soon getting my hands on the Lemon Drop, which has been sold out everywhere. The Summer Fruit smells really sweet and fruity - albeit it has a bit of a artificial scent in the beginning until it's broken in.

I really love this product already - it really moisturizes my (very easily dried and chapped) lips! It smells great, I love the smooth, soft rubbery-like packaging and it comes in four different versions - Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint, Honeysuckle Honeydew and Lemon Drop. The price: 3.29 US Dollars in CVS or similar drugstore - however they range anywhere from 5 to 10 dollars online so if you have a friend in the U.S., who can send it to I'd highly recommend that.

You can check YouTube Beauty Guru and TV News Anchor Emily Noel's EOS review here!

Also, I'm not the only one loving this product...

By the way, EOS claims to be "95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth."

BeautyBlog65 - 25 Question Tag

Hi my darlings!

I wanted to do this random 25 question tag going around YT amongst my favorite beauty gurus - so you can all get to know me a little bit more - on things non-beauty-related;)

Here we go - feels like we're on a first date;)

1. Do YOU HAVE ANY PETS?
No but I really want a dog! A red-brownish little daschund!

2. NAME 3 THINGS THAT ARE PHYSICALLY CLOSE TO YOU.
My iPhone, a scented candle, and both the Brothers & Sisters S1 and Gossip Girl S2 dvds:)

3. WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE RIGHT NOW?
Pretty nice! No rain, sunny and hopefully a balmy 20+ degrees (celsius)

4. DO YOU DRIVE? IF SO, HAVE YOU CRASHED?
I drive but hopefully, I have never crashed.

5. WHAT TIME DID YOU WAKE UP THIS MORNING?
Around 8 AM

6. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SHOWERED?
This morning:)

7. WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?
OMG...I saw this really bad chick romance flick called 'No Reservations' a few nights ago. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart play chefs and she also gets custody of her sister's daughter. Very very chick flick and I'm embarrassed to say I did shed a tear or two:) Besides 'Sex and the City 2', the last movie I saw in the movie theater was 'Armadillo' about a Danish platoon in Afghanistan.

8. WHAT DOES YOUR LAST TEXT MESSAGE SAY?
My last text was from a former high school class mate, who would not be able to make it to our high school reunion in three weeks. He has an exam during that weekend so I wished him the best so the last text simply says 'Thank you'.

9. WHAT'S YOUR RINGTONE?
It's the generic iPhone 'Old Phone' ringtone.

10. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY?
Yes, I've travelled quite a bit on several continents. I've been to the U.S several times, Africa, Asia and of course Europe.

11. DO YOU LIKE SUSHI?
It's my favorite kind of food!

12. WHERE DO YOU BUY YOUR GROCERIES?
Depends. Since I'm still a poor student I tend to shop at Netto and although I'm not fanatic about it, I really like organic items. I must say I miss the Whole Foods I lived across from in Washington D.C. - all organic store!

13. HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN MEDICATION TO HELP YOU FALL ASLEEP FASTER?
Once - an herbal kind of medication but I generally do not like any kind of medication and although I sometimes suffer from insomnia, I never take sleeping pills.

14. HOW MANY SIBLINGS DO YOU HAVE?
I am adopted and I have one adoptive brother and five biological siblings.

15. DO YOU HAVE A DESKTOP OR A LAPTOP?
Laptop - I love my MAC White MACBook.

16. HOW OLD WILL YOU BE TURNING ON YOUR NEXT BIRTHDAY?
28 - I know I'm gettin' oooooold;)

17. DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS OR GLASSES?
Nope!

18. DO YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR?
Never have. I kind of fear the never ending circle if I begin coloring my hair - besides of all things beauty related hair was never my big interest.

19. TELL ME SOMETHING YOU'RE PLANNING TO DO TODAY.
Besides working on my master's thesis, I will be looking forward to a visit from a BFF of mine! We haven't seen each other all summer - we've both been travelling the world, so we are catching up big time tonight!

20. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
Besides the movie the other day and the lousy movie, I cried last when I saw my brother reunite with his biological family in Korea.

21. WHAT IS YOUR PERFECT PIZZA TOPPING?
Veggies and chicken/beef. Important: Only one kind of meat on my pizza, please!

22. DO YOU PREFER HAMBURGERS OR CHEESEBURGERS?
Hamburgers. Although I like a bit of cheese when it is used in dishes like pizza or lasagna I do not like cheese very much!

23. HAVE YOU PULLED AN ALL NIGHTER?
Yes, at Ohio University I pulled a couple of them...

24. WHAT IS YOUR EYE COLOR?
Brown.

25. CAN YOU TASTE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PEPSI & COKE?
I wanna say I can but I usually only drink Diet Coke and don't like the taste of regular coke. So I can taste the difference between Diet and Regular but I really don't know if I can taste the difference between Diet Coke and Pepsi Max...

OK - just a little randomness;)

Hope you're all doing very well - please leave a comment letting me know what you'd like to read, know, learn more about on my little blog!

BeautyBlog64 - Make Up 101 - Basic Introduction

Hey Lovlies,

So a friend of mine is visiting the States very soon and she asked for an overview and some tips for buying a little bit of everything. I thought it was a good idea to give you guys a small intro/overview of what to look for make up and skin care-wise if you're starting out or looking to try some new products but don't know where to start.

Note: This is targeted towards shopping in the U.S. but some/most products are also available in Denmark or online!

Make up:

Face primer:
Laura Mercier has a great face primer - in many different versions according to your skin type! If you wanna give it a go then I suggest giving her flawless face kit a try - includes the must-talked about tinted moisturizer and other goodies.

Foundation:
Liquid foundation-wise I would suggest the MakeUpForever HD Foundation or their MatVelvet+, if your skin is combination/oily. However, this is a 35-40 dollar foundation so if you want to go for a cheaper alternative go to your local drugstore for the Revlon Colorstay or Photo Ready foundation! The Colorstay gives great coverage and the PhotoReady gives a flawless finish - their version of the MUFE HD foundation AND the price is around 10 dollars!

Powder:
I only use a setting powder - and I would suggest the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural - get shade-matched at your MAC counter or possibly the MUFE HD Microfinish Powder Many drugstore brands have great powders as well!

Bronzer/Blush:
Benefit's Hoola bronzer or Coralista blush are very popular. If you want to save money then go to MAC for a great color selection or even NYX for a 5 dollar blush. For creme blush the N.Y.C. blushable creme sticks have been getting a lot of well-deserved hype this summer. It's only like 3 dollars at the drugstore! N.Y.C. also has a great bronzer in Sunny for around 3 dollars!

For blush and bronzer a lot of people also love Nars products. They are pretty expensive but really good. Their blush/bronzer combo in Orgasm/Laguna is widely popular.

Eyeshadow primer:
Makes your eyeshadow last all day - I adore the Too Faced Shadow Insurance but a lot of beauty gurus swear by the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Eyeshadow:
I love MAC shadows. If you go to a MAC store/counter you can buy a palette and choose four colors and make your own combo! Great idea!

I you are in the U.S. now or will be going soon then check out Urban Decay's amazing new limited edition Naked Palette

BUT eyeshadows are just as good if you get them at the drugstore - and cheap! Look for Maybelline quads in Expert Wear Eye Shadow Quads or Stylish Smokes quads.

CoverGirl Eye Enhancer Kits are also popular as are Revlon!

The difference in price from Sephora/department stores to drugstore ranges from 10-20+ dollars so it is definetely worth looking at the drugstore brands!

Eyeliner:
I just use anything black! I like Almay, MAC and Urban Decay.

Mascara:
My HOLY grail is the CoverGirl Lash Blast in water proof. I am waiting to try the new version called Fusion! (Price app. 7 dollars!)

There are of course loads of other brands to take a look at. First high end ones!

There is a lot of rave about the YSL Faux Cils - but it is 30 dollars!

There us also the Make Up Forever Smokey Lash - I am contemplating trying this one and breaking my two year + dedication to CoverGirl!
Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Lash har også fået mange positive omtaler på YT. http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P49014&categoryId=S10510&shouldPaginate=true

Dior Show - always a favorite - a classic! But I ditched it because it was not in waterproof - it is now so I might give it a new try as well!

Don't like MAC mascaras! So nothing on them!

Drugstore mascaras are a lot cheaper and many of them just as good from what I hear. Here are some of the ones that are getting good reviews:

The Colossal Volum' Express by Maybelline
Lash Stiletto, Sexy Curves Mascara and The Max Volume by Rimmel
Double Extended by L'Oreal - one of my YouTube faves, Kandee Johnson loves this! I tried it out and didn't like it (should have tried a waterproof I guess) Now it lives w my friend Helle;)
Telescopic Mascara, Voluminous and Volume Collagen Mascaras by L'Oreal
Define a Lash by Maybelline

All of these are given somewhat good reviews by loads of girls - and the occasional great guy!:) on YouTube.

Lipbalm:
Korres Lipbutters! My favorite one is Jasmin.
Drugstore balms include the L'oreal HIP Jelly Balms and this summer's hype, the EOS LipBalms - formed like little balls/eggs!

Lipgloss:
LOVE lipgloss but hate the stickiness! Therefore no MAC lip glosses except the CremeSheen Glass-no stickiness, only creamy consistency! Also love the NYX mega shines and Round lip glosses - and they are like 2-4 dollars! Also like the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss. Some of them are like the CremeSheen Glass and I want to try this summer's collection with Coral Reef, Peach Petal, Pink Pop and Lilac Pastelle!

Lipsticks:
NYX round lipsticks! app. 3 dollars! MAC is great for the color selection and formulas! app. 14 dollars. For drugstore lipstick look for Revlon Super Lustrous has so many different shades, app. 8 dollars, or their ColorBurst line! and Maybelline's Color Sensational line is also great!

Nails:
If you can find it I absolutely love OPI - app. 10. dollars a bottle. Essie! A classic and what you get at most nail salons along w OPI - app. 8 dollars.

Of course my first nail polish love Chanel!

For a slightly cheaper alternative check out ChinaGlaze - a lot of different colors - and their most famous one For Audrey /Something Blue - the Tiffany & Co color is everywhere;)

Remember the Top coat Dry fast favorite Seche Vite!

Next up is skin care!

Hope you found this helpful - please leave a comment w any thoughts, questions or such. If you need a website reference as to where to buy any of this from DK also let me know!

BeautyBlog62-The best things come in small boxes...

Hi my lovelies,

Here I thought the only thing I had to look forward to was getting back into thesis-mode - but OH NO - how amazing it is to receive a small package in the mail with goodies - paid by me - sent by the most amazing friend Katrine, who is traveling around the U.S. this summer (note: she is just as amazing when she is back in Odense ;))

I had put together a small wish list for her and here are all the goodies I excitedly received today:

1) TRESemmé FreshStart Dry Shampoo Spray. I have heard so many great reviews of this, so I thought I'd give it a try. Never before have I ventured into the dry shampoos but there's a first for everything! I will do an updated blog soon w/ more detailed reviews of a lot of the things I've acquired over the last couple of months!

2) I am so exited to try this Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in 006 Medium Beige or 008 Golden Beige to see if it is as good as all the rave reviews claim! I will probably try to mix it with my ColorStay for a less shiny finish! Very exited about this!

3) I also got a back up of my favorite foundation primer by Laura Mercier - the oil free one that makes my make up last all day without melting off or smudging! Good stuff - I highly recommend this to anyone! (note: depending on you skin type there are different versions of this - my skin is combination/oily!)

4) My new favorite lip product is without a doubt the Korres Lipbutter in Jasmin. They were out of that but I got their LipSaverRoll with three amazing lip butters. This is the first lip balm that I can put on at night and then wake up with soft lips the next morning. My lips tend to dry out a lot during the night so thumbs up! The roll contains Mango (sheer peach), Guava (clear) and Pomegranate (sheer coral). Check out makeupbytiffanyd's review here: Tiffany's November Favorites

5) A new friend (Thanks Christina) recommended I try the BareMinerals (id) foundation. I've been kind of sceptical about trying mineral foundation since I've tried MAC's mineral foundation and others, which did not provide a very good coverage. However, Christina convinced me I would still see the same coverage, so here goes...I decided to get the 5-Piece-Starter-Kit in Medium Beige. It contains the Original SPF 15 Foundation, the Matte SPF 15 Foundation, an Original Mineral Veil, a Warmth All-Over Face Color and a Mini Full Flawless Face Brush. I will try it out over the next few days and let you know what I think in my collective review post!

6) I also got two back-ups of my favorite facial cleanser Cetaphil!

That was it! Thank you to Katrine, who was so nice to run around L.A. picking up things for me;)

So what do you think? Please leave a comment below and tell me about your latest beauty-buys, about what you'd like me to blog about or what kind of beauty products you want to try out!

BeautyBlog60-Korean Skin Care Laníege

Hi Lovelies,

In Korea I found the most amazing skin care line. I had done a bit of research before I left for Korea but I had no idea just HOW big skin care is in Korea.

Skin - clean, perfect and white! - is big in Korea. Walking around Myoeng-Dong - one of the best shopping areas in Seoul - every other store is a skin care store. Some of the biggest brands are The Face Shop, Skin Food, It's Skin, Nature Republic, Etude House and so many others.

All of them sell loads of stuff - make up, body lotions and so many skin care products! Face masks in numerous versions. I got several different kinds and I will go through all of that and the make up I got in a future post.

This post is dedicated to my new skin care system: Laneíge - "Snow" in French. Clear skin is the number 1 thing in Korea. Actually, the name snow is not a coincidence. A lot of the skin care products in Korea contain whitening stuff! White clear skin is IN in Korea. For me being tan is nice and staying out of the sun feels unnatural, however Korean women don't like the sun. They love sunscreen, sun hats, umbrellas and the shade! It's scary to see how many things contain whitening - even Nivea body lotion. But I guess it's like us Westernes loving the sun, self tanner, sun tanning beds (ewwwww) and just lazing around under the sun to get that sun-kissed tan.

Well, back to Laniegé. The skin care line is pretty high end compared to a lot of the other Korean skin care products. I spent around 100 US dollars on my basic products but it was so worth it!

Read more about the line here: www.laniege.com

The spokes person for Laneige is the hugely popular actress Song Hye Kyo.

I mean if I can get to look like her, then I'm hooked! :)

I got two products from the Basic Care line:

The Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light (Combination Oily Skin) is my new toner. It is very light and has the most amazing scent. It has a soft flowery scent and leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.

I also got the Laneige Balancing Emulsion Light Lotion. The light weight formula with purifying and hydro balancing care leaves my skin feeling refresh and clear.

I use those two and my Clinique Dramatically Moisturizer in the morning.

At night I add one more step from the Water Bank line between the toner and emulsion:

The Water Bank Essence, which is a long-lasting moisture essence for smooth and clear skin texture! The essence is a deep functioning version.

Since I began this routine almost two weeks ago my skin has become a lot more hydrated. Also I wake up in the morning and my skin feels the same as it did when I had just washed and cleansed it.

I was so fortunate to be given a lot of Laneíge products as gifts, so I have loads of refills now and I will also be trying out the:

Water Bank Gel Cream, which is a gel-type moisture cream that soothes the skin with a cool, invigorating texture!

I was also given the Water Sleeping Pack_EX, which is a light gel-type texture provides intensive hydration, vitality, and brightening effect while restoring skin with deep relaxation. I have yet to try this but you basically apply it in a thin layer - it dries and you sleep with it. It is supposed to give a lot of moisture and work with the skin during the night. I can't wait to try this.

I also wanted to try the much talked about Laneige Strawberry Yoghurt Peeling Gel is a cellulose and enzyme peeling gel, which gently removes dead cell and impurities brining back clear and soft skin. I have yet to try this out as well but I will let you know what I think about it!

I also got the popular Laneige new UV protecting Sliding Pact, which lightly sildes and fits on my skin, effectively absorbing excess sebum to portray longlasting powdery skin. It mattifies my skin and has the nicest clean scent. I love it. I got it in Medium Beige.

I am so exited about my new products. The last year or so, ever since I definitively said goodbye to the Clinique soap and toner, I've been looking for a series to fit my skin. This works amazingly and it does not dry or irritate my skin. And the products not too expensive. The toner and lotion are around 25 US dollars each - the essence and the other things are more expensive though.

Hope you enjoyed this!

BeautyBlog59 - Back in beauty business!

Hi my lovelies,

After 20 delicious and much needed vacation days I'm back!!

I started out spending four fantastic days in Rome. It was my first time there and I loved the city, the architecture and the sun!

Initially, I was saving my money for my next destination (Seoul, South Korea) but I couldn't resist getting a few things including a small golden cross at the Vatican. I also ventured out onto Via del Corsa - aka THE shopping street, where I found a Sephora and a Lush.

Unfortunately, the Sephora did not carry Nars, which I was pretty keen on trying out so I went for Make Up For Ever instead. Since my skin is combination/oily I was advised not to go for the ever so popular MUFE HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Instead I bought the Mat Velvet + Foundation. I've only had the opportunity to try it out a few times but so far I like it! It does seem to give my face a mat finish, which I love - however I don't think the coverage is as good as my preferred foundation: Revlon ColorStay.

I also went into Lush where I spent the majority of my time. I love it there. All the soaps, face products and funny bath-things. I only got four things in there.

I wanted to try Dark Angels skin exfoliant. On Lush's own website Dark Angels are described like this: "Dark and tough, this one doesn't mess about. It's a black, squidgy scrub made with charcoal to absorb oils and exfoliate your skin. Nutritious avocado oil softens, glycerine keeps the moisture in and black sugar scrubs away." I already love it. I used it daily in Korea and it was wonderful for deep cleaning my face after long busy days, where my skin would be dirty from all the activity and all the sweating! (Korea was HOT HOT HOT with even more humidity to go with it!)

I also bought my first bubble bar called Creamy Candy Bubble Bar. I don't have a bath tub so I use it for the water I soak my tired feet in once a week;) It smells so good! So sweet like candy and it turns the water into a sea of pink bubbles!

I also decided to give the Sugar Scrub a try. I have yet to try it out but here is what the website says: "Tough on cellulite, kind to skin. Our Sugar Scrub is hard, but a bit of a sweetie. Its no nonsense stance stimulates activity and tackles cellulite with fennel and ginger. Calming lavender has a balancing effect and encourages healthier skin." I mean who wouldn't want to give this a try!?

In the end I decided not to get a lot of soap since I still have some left from last time I got a shipment from Lush in December. But I had to get one little piece and I picked the Triple-citrus cleanser. According to Lush: "Lemslip is our creamiest, dreamiest lemon shower soap, but this is only one of the reasons why it's a best-seller. It has antimicrobial lemon, lime and sweet wild orange to clear up spots all over a body that gets a bit oily now and again" and I really love everything lemon scented. It just smells clean and summery!

This was what I got beauty-wise in Italy. I flew straight from Rome to Korea where I just returned from after 16 great days! Experience and shopping-wise.

BeautyBlog58-Summer plans

Hi my lovelies,

This will be a more random blog post about my upcoming summer plans, a bit of a haul and potential Summer shopping!

So I will be going to Rome, Italy and Seoul, South Korea. And I am tons exited about both places!

In Rome I want to hit the Sephora (my favorite make up store) at the big mall by the Roma Termini train station and Via Del Corsa shopping street. I want a new foundation - preferably MUFE Mat Velvet or HD. I've also been eyeing the NARS Sheer Matte. So I will have to go and check out what works best on my skin. Any suggestions?

I'm so exited about visiting Rome, since I've never been to Italy before. I'll be hitting the must-sees and get to work on a nice summer tan!

As soon as I return from Rome, I'll be travelling to Seoul, South Korea for two weeks. I will be travelling around the country a bit - I'm adopted from Korea - and I'll be staying several days in the capital city, Seoul. Other than sightseeing the beautiful sights and country side, I'll definitely do a bit of shopping. Seoul is known for their 24/7 shopping possibilities. I'll be staying in one of the main shopping areas: Myong-dong:) I'll also visit Dongdaemun. It has 26 shopping malls situated over 10 blocks, 30,000 speciality shops, and 50,000 manufacturers so I'm sure I'll find some nice things to bring back home:)

Of things I've been eyeing are the Laneige skin care series. A Korean brand, not sold in Denmark. It's a bit expensive but supposed to be amazing. Check out mungchungtoo's youtube video on the Laneige Renew skin care line.

Check out
I also want to buy some colored contacts. Check out my previous blog post on colored contacts, here.
Last but not least, Seoul has a Forever21 - a favorite store of mine, where I can get loads of stylish clothes at a low price. I'm hoping the Zara at the M-Plaza mall is also cheaper than in Denmark. I am looking for a nice tan colored trench coat, and I've seen a very Burberry like one in Zara.

I bought a couple of beauty related things lately.

I had a friend, thanks Heidi:), bring me home a bottle of my favorite YSL Perfume Parisienne and lip butter from Korres in Jasmin. I love them both!

Hope you're all enjoying your summer!

Please remember to leave me a comment below;)

BeautyBlog56- My skin care routine

Hi lovelies,

So I've been promising a skin care routine post, and here it is! Since I started researching more on make up and skin care about a year and a half ago, I've really gotten into skin care. My skin is very prone to break outs. I have oily/combination skin. I still get the occasional big pimple but thankfully it has been receding a lot over the last year or so. That is probably because my skin care regime is very different now than it use to be. The most important thing: I remove ALL my make up EVERY night and the biggest difference, because I actually used to remove it before, I take it off in more steps than before so I actually clean my skin!

I will divide this into morning and night skin care!

MORNING:

1: Cleanse my skin with my favorite cleanser ever the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for Normal to Oily Skin. I simply adore this. No parabenes, no perfume and very very gentle. Leaves my skin so soft and clean!

2: I use the Nivea Soothing Toner for Dry to Sensitive Skin. My skin is not dry but I've discovered that it is sensitive. A very wise women told me two years ago that I should stop using all the anti-acne products I had been using for years. I was not a teen anymore and my skin was being subjected to way to harsh products.

Basically that meant no more Clinique 3 step system. I use to swear by this, now I only use the:

3: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.
This is the only one of the original Clinique products I began using back in 2001. And I still love love love it. It's the best moisturizer for my skin that I have ever found. I tried other brands for shorter amounts of time but always return to this.

NIGHT:

At night the most important thing I do is remove ALL of my make up.

1: I take up my eye make up with my favorite make up remover: Vandfast Øjenmakeup Fjerner fra Matas. A Danish based drug store brand. The best ever, if you ask me. Especially, since I use waterproof mascara!

2: I use baby wipes to remove my make up. This step is crucial! Before I would only wash my face. However, that only removed my make up, it did not cleanse my face. I use baby wipes from Kvickly Xtra - they are very cheap 2 dollars for a big pack and I stock up whenever there's a sale. Love them!

3: Cleanse my face with Cetaphil and several times a week I also use a face scrub. For years, I've been using the Clinique 7 day scrub. Lately however I started using, and absolutely love Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne-Scrub. It gently exfoliate my face and leaves my skin soft and deeply cleansed.

Then I follow with

4: The Nivea Soothing Toner for Dry to Sensitive Skin.

5: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

And finish off with the

6: Clinique All About Eyes Moisturizer. Lightweight eye cream diminishes the appearance of eye puffs, darkness and fine lines. I use the gel formula and love the soothing feel.

---

Other parts of my face regiments include a weekly facial mask

Queen Helene Masque Mint Julep Mask. I love this face mask! I tried it out originally because of Fafinettex3'a review on YouTube. Although my skin is a lot better now, I still need to use a mask once a week to keep the blackheads and ewwww pimples from resurfacing! I love it it even though it smells very much like toothpaste and it's Jim Carrey The Mask green! But I reckon that the green color gives it a kind of retro feel, when you put it on;)

I also occasionally use the Deep Cleansing Pore Strips from Boiré. They clear the impurities on my nose and I really like them.

Sometimes, although not as much as I used to, I use the Ocean Salt from Lush for a thoroughly deep face scrub.

Now please leave a comment and tell me about your skin care! Do you have any products you can recommend?

xoxo

BeautyBlog55- My current wish list

Hi my lovelies,

Lately, I've been dreaming about the kind of make up hauls I used to do when I lived in the U.S. and could actually afford to buy make up from department & drugstore brands.

Fortunately, I will be coming into contact with a Sephora in the near future, when I travel to Rome in the end of June. If you don't know what a Sephora is then think: BEAUTY heaven! The company is French but has branches in a lot of European countries and in the U.S. where all beauty-related is gathered in a heavenly combination of make up, hair and skin care products. It was one of my favorite places to shop while I lived in Washington D.C. where the one on M-street was huge AND allowed me to cash in on Ole Henriksen products at half the Danish price!

One of my favorite Danish bloggers, Maria @ Modemedmere also love Sephora. Check out her blog!

A lot of my current make up wishes can be bought at Sephora and I hope to bring home a few, when I go to Rome for four days of sightseeing, sunshine and a bit of shopping of course.

Now on to the list:

1: MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Foundation!

For such a long time I've heard rave reviews of this product! Maria also bought it recently. And basically every beauty guru on YouTube has raved about it.

According to Sephora this is an oil-free medium-to-full-coverage liquid foundation that covers skin imperfections flawlessly while remaining invisible on-screen and in real life. This foundation creates a soft-focus effect, which is designed to meet the coverage concerns of those in the spotlight. It leaves your complexion with such a flawless finish, it can withstand bright or harsh lighting.

Check out littlemissglitters review here.

2: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

So since it's getting warmer and summery, I don't like to wear that much make up, and as I tan and since my skin has improved a lot over the last year or so, I've been wanting to try out Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer. It will be perfect for light make up days. I've been into the very natural skin, eyes, lips and only a flushed cheek look lately. Loads of people rave about the Laura Mercier products including three of my faves: JuicyStar07, Allthatglitters21 and KandeeJohnson.

3: Nars Lipgloss in Striptease

Now everyone talks about the NARS lipgloss in Turkish Delight, but from the Shesido swatches, I can tell it will be too milky and white-looking for my lips. I however have fallen in love with the one in the color Striptease. Several of my favorite YouTube gurus swear by Nars lipglosses. I personally love lip products but when it comes to lipglosses, I'm pretty hard to please. I don't want them too sticky, too glittery, too think or too dark. They have to be smooth, shimmery rather than full on glitter, only slightly pigmented, creamy and I want them to smell nice;)

4: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

After watching loads of videos, including one from a favorite of mine DulceCandy87 and by xkellyxann, I wanna try it. I need a spot treatment that actually works. My skin has improved - skin care blog coming up - tremendously over the last year or so, however, I still suffer from the occasional nightmare break out/scary big pimple. I've been using a spot treatment from Shiseido, which has been okay but it's been almost the 24 months I can use it so I am looking for something new.

The Drying Lotion, according to Mario Badescu,is an excellent acne spot treatment made with a blend of Calamine and Salicylic Acid to clear up and soothe unsightly whiteheads overnight. A dab of this lotion will heal and dry pimples quickly.

5: The Clarisonic
So I probably won't splurge and spend the 200 dollars on a Clarisonic right now...I will have to do some saving first BUT I really want to get this one. Everyone is talking about it. It's like a facial cleanser at home! It will brighten your skin and it deep cleanses your skin so well, especially important if you use a lot of make up! I'm dying to try this combo w/ the Philosophy Purity cleansing products;)

The sonic frequency moves Clarisonic's soft, gentle brush back and forth at more than 300 times per second, thoroughly clearing pores and skin surface.

Experience the benefits of Clarisonic:- 6X more effective makeup removal- Skin is left soft and smooth- Cleanses so well that products absorb better- Gentle enough for use twice daily- Reduces oily areas, dry skin patches, and blemishes- Reduces the appearance of visible pores- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles - I mean, what is not to love!?!?

What are you dreaming about?
